This guide covers England. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have different use-class and permitted-development rules. A use class is not permission for building works or proof that a change is lawful at a particular site.

Permission and prior-approval checks

Check the proposed change with the authority. Class T is a route into a state-funded school; it does not establish a general F.1-to-E right.

Design notes

Review access, noise, setting and use intensity. The need for environmental assessment depends on the actual development and statutory criteria; an F.1 label alone does not determine it.
